Julie Welcomes Cardiff Alzheimer's Society to Westminster

Julie Morgan, MP for Cardiff North, was delighted to welcome Sam Pearce, a Carers’ Advocate with the Alzheimer’s Society for Cardiff and the Vale, to the House of Commons last week. The Society and day centre is based in Heol Don in Whitchurch at the moment.

Sam Pearce was in the Houses of Parliament to attend the launch of an essential new guide supporting people with dementia and their carers. The Alzheimer Society’s Putting Care Right – Your Guide to Choosing a Care Home was launched in Westminster by the actor Tony Robinson.

Julie Morgan MP said:

“It was lovely to see Sam at the House of Commons. My mother used to go to the Alzheimer’s Society day centre in Heol Don and I was always so impressed with the activities they held there, the support they gave carers and most importantly, the respect they gave to those suffering from dementia.

“I’m sad that the centre is moving out of Cardiff North to Cardiff Central – I shall miss visiting there as the local MP and supporting such a worthwhile organisation. Of course, as our population lives longer and longer, more and more families will have to cope with dementia and organisations like the Alzheimer’s Society will become more and more important.

“I applaud the excellent work that they do.”
