SELECT COMMITTEES

 

There are Select Committees in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. House of Commons Select Committees investigate and report on the work of government departments; House of Lords Select Committees concentrate on four main areas: Europe, science, economics, and the UK constitution.

 

Select Committees usually produce several reports each year which often require a formal response from the government.

 

I am currently a member of two Select Committees:

 

Justice Committee

Public Administration Select Committee

 

From 1997-2005, I also served on the Welsh Affairs Select Committee.

 

I have also served on the House of Commons Administration Committee.
