23 JULY 2009: The Secretary of State for International Development came to Cardiff. Douglas Alexander MP came to a meeting I hosted in Ararat Church on Whitchurch Common to discuss International Development issues. It was both an enlightening and inspiring meeting.

23 JULY 2009: Alan Johnson MP, the Home Secretary, came to the University Hospital of Wales to discuss important issues of public safety. This included the importance of plastic drinks containers to increase drinker safety.

 

11 JULY 2009: I opened the Old St. Mellon’s Fete. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all.

10 JULY 2009: Breaking ground at the new Cardiff North Medical Centre with Dr. Bloomfield. I know that the reconstruction of this site has been of great concern, so it was great to see it on its way.

12 JUNE 2009: I lent my support to the University and College Union campaign to try to prevent the slashing of humanities courses at the Cardiff University Centre for Lifelong Learning.

APRIL 2009: I welcomed the Justice Secretary Jack Straw MP to Whitchurch. He signed up new voters who had just turned 18.

 

 

28 MARCH 2009: I was delighted to support the George Thomas Hospice Spring Fayre in Whitchurch Village.  As Vice President of the charity, I am always happy to support them in the wonderful work that they do.

30 JANUARY 2009: I went to Eglwys Wen Primary School to celebrate the award of their third Green Flag for environmental action. I read out a congratulatory statement from the Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who had visited the school in 2006 when he was Environment Secretary and been impressed by their eco-scheme.

25 NOVEMBER 2008:

I met with politics students from Llanishen High School when they came up to the Houses of Parliament. It’s always a pleasure to meet students and discuss current issues with them.
